Academic Administrative Assistants

Academic Administrative Assistants (AAA) serve as administrative support for several academic areas.  Duties and responsibilities include budget management and monitoring; purchasing; entering and monitoring facilities service requests; and running reports about students (advisees, majors/minors, etc.)  Other duties include updating the departments and programs websites; providing administrative support to faculty and the Provost’s Office in the tenure, promotion and reappointment processes; and managing departmental logistics for faculty searches. The AAA works with the Registrar on course scheduling and classroom requests and reserving rooms for non-class activities.  The AAA assists with special programs, lectures and colloquia for faculty and students.

We have three open AAA positions:

Departments of Sociology and Anthropology; the Heath Studies Program; Latin American, Iberian, and Latina/o Studies (LAILS) Program; and the Center for Social Sciences. This is a full-time, 12 month position.

Departments of French and Francophone Studies; Spanish; Italian; Romance Languages Program; and the Comparative Literature Program. This is a full-time, 12 month position.

Departments of Classical, German, and Near Eastern Languages and Cultural Studies. This is a full-time 10 month position during the academic year, August – May.

REQUIREMENTS
Three to five years of administrative experience in an academic environment with progressively increasing responsibilities or any combination of skills, education and training which provides the necessary skills, abilities, and knowledge required.  Proficiency with computer software packages, including MS Office. Experience with and/or an aptitude and willingness for learning new software and systems e.g. Peoplesoft, Financial Edge, Blackboard, Moodle, Slate, OnBase is preferred.
