ůůֱ Art Historians attend the 2019 College Art Association Annual Meeting

ůůֱ College’s History of Art Department was well-represented this year at the in New York City. The annual conference was held from February 13-16, 2019.

Assistant ůůֱ Sylvia Houghteling co-chaired a session with her colleague Vera-Simone Schulz of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz at the Max-Planck-Institut. The February 15th session was titled “Textile Ecologies: Environmental Aesthetics and Transmaterial Dynamics of Cloth.” ůůֱ David Cast chaired the panel “Antiquarianism in Art. Ideology of Representation during the Renaissance: The Grotesques.”

Special Collections Curator Carrie Robbins and Ph.D. Candidate Laurel Vera Mclaughlin gave the paper “Learning from Tania El Khoury’s ear-whispered at ůůֱ College in the session “‘When Home Won’t Let You Stay’: Art and Migration in the 21st Century.” Their paper was a reflection on the recent Tania El Khoury exhibition ear whispered at ůůֱ College.

Also in attendance were History of Art graduate students Meg Hankel, Emily Leifer, Elliot Martin, and Michelle Smiley.

A reception for ůůֱ College History of Art alumnae/i, faculty, and students was held on February 14th at the New York Hilton Midtown.
